Another year has come and gone, each one passing faster than the last. And each year I find myself with more to reflect on, in various aspects of my life. Relationships, friendships, family, what I value, what I really should give my time to.
As I prepare for my evening out and the celebrations to ring in the New Year, this is what I've noticed and that I'll be carrying with me into 2018.
1. If you find people to be distant/cold/disinterested in you, or towards you, it's more likely than not that they have their own worries going on at the moment rather than them actually having a problem with you. Better to just drop them a line and ask if they're alright;
2. That being said, relationships in all forms require energy and effort. If this energy and effort becomes tedious, perhaps it's not meant to be;
3. Self care is of the utmost importance; whether it's a lovely face mask to brighten your face, a hot bath, or simply getting enough sleep when you've had a rough time. Anything that makes you feel better, is self care;
4. STOP investing energy and time in worrying over meaningless little things. Just stop;
5. STOP wasting time mindlessly scrolling. Time is precious and could actually be used for more rewarding and productive things;
6. Making money is great. Saving it is even better. I've (finally) learned to budget this year, and I hope to maintain this;
7. Sometimes, you need to take a big leap. A big leap out of your comfort zone, and away from the plan. This is good;
8. Family is precious. Spend as much time as you can with them. Especially grandparents;
9. STOP thinking negatively, it will greatly reduce the bad vibes around you. Send some positive thoughts into the world;
10. Be kinder to yourself, and trust yourself more. Put yourself out there, in connections, opportunities, social events, personal skills. Just, grow.
Happy New Year, here's to 2018.
